In 1313, as the Grand Master of the Knights Templar burned at the stake, he hurled this threat at his executioners : "A curse on you! Within a year I shall call you before the court of God to receive your just punishment! A curse on you all down to the thirteenth generation of your line!" Did the curse come true? The fact is that all those named were to meet a violent death: the Pope, Nogaret, King Philippe le Bel, his three sons - all would perish. The Accursed Kings is a fabulous, violent saga even as we thrill to the deeds of compelling, colorful, unforgettable characters.
